What is a Breaker?

A breaker is listed as one who dismantles cars for salvage.
A person, vehicle, or piece of equipment employed in recovering or removing wrecks, especially a truck with a hoist and towing apparatus used in towing disabled or wrecked vehicles.
One that salvages wrecked cargo or parts.

What does a Breaker do?

Breakers often buy entire vehicles (body shell) after they have been in an accident or written off by an insurance company.  The breaker will then either dismantle the vehicle and store the parts for sale or make the vehicle available to prospective buys for the remaining parts.

Benefits of buying second hand parts from a breaker.

Second hand parts are generally sold far cheaper than the replacement part sold new in a dealership.    Many replacement parts (Exhaust, Electrical, Brakes) sold by after-market specialists and dealers are not the original part but a copy of the original part and so, by buying the part/s from a breaker, in most cases, you will be buying the identical spare part that was originally fitted to the vehicle during manufacture.
